If you moved to Colorado Springs from somewhere humid, you've probably noticed how fast dust comes back. Low humidity keeps particles floating in the air, wind carries dirt from open land, and wildfire smoke adds fine ash in the summer.
Start with the air. Change your furnace filter every one to three months, and clean supply and return vents so they don't blow settled dust back into the room. A humidifier in winter also helps dust settle where it can be wiped up.
Clean from the top down. Ceiling fans, blinds, and the tops of door frames and cabinets collect dust that falls onto everything below. If you dust the tables first and the fan second, you'll end up doing the tables twice.
Use damp microfiber instead of dry dusters, which mostly move dust around. And add a doormat inside and outside every entry, since a big share of household dust walks in on shoes.
Vent, blind, and ceiling fan cleaning are all available as add-ons to any regular or deep clean, and they make a noticeable difference in how long a home stays fresh.
